Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about GPA maths, the planners, weighted scales and privacy. For the full method, see how to calculate GPA.
How do I calculate my GPA?
Convert each letter grade to points on the 4.0 scale, multiply by the course's credits, add the products, and divide by total credits. Example: A (3 credits), B+ (4 credits), A- (3 credits) = (12 + 13.2 + 11.1) / 10 = 3.63.
What is the difference between semester and cumulative GPA?
Semester GPA covers one term. Cumulative GPA blends all completed terms, weighted by credits. EasyGPA's main calculator shows both when you add your previous GPA and credits.
What do I need on my final to get an A?
Use the Final Grade Calculator: enter your current percentage, the weight already graded, the final's weight and your target. It returns the exact exam score required — or tells you if the target is no longer reachable and what the best possible grade is.
What GPA do I need next semester to reach my goal?
The Target GPA Calculator works backwards from your goal using your current GPA, credits completed and credits planned. If the answer exceeds 4.0, the goal needs more than one term.
How does weighted high-school GPA work?
Add the level bonus to each class's grade points before averaging: +1.0 for AP/IB, +0.5 for Honors, capped at 5.0 per class. The high-school calculator shows weighted and unweighted results together.
Is a 3.5 GPA good?
For most colleges, yes — a 3.5 is a B+/A- average and sits comfortably above the 3.0 threshold many scholarships and programs use. Context matters: course rigor, your major's norms and the trend across terms all count alongside the number.
Does EasyGPA store my grades?
No. All calculations run locally in your browser. There is no account system and no server receives your numbers; closing the tab erases them.
My school uses a different scale. Can I still use EasyGPA?
The tools use the standard US 4.0 scale, published in full on the scale chart page. If your school caps an A+ differently or skips plus/minus grades, your official figure may differ slightly — the planning logic (final-grade and target maths) still applies with your school's numbers.
Why did my GPA barely move after a great semester?
Credit mass. The more credits you have completed, the smaller the share each new term represents. With 90 credits banked, a 15-credit term at 4.0 moves a 3.20 cumulative to about 3.31 — real progress, just slower than freshman year.
Is EasyGPA free?
Yes — every calculator is free with no sign-up and no limits. A Pro tier with saved scenarios is planned at $9/month as a coming-soon teaser; it is not billed and there is no checkout yet.
